Drop-off and pickup
A teacher hands each child to you at the room door. We release a child only to the people you list in writing.
Allergies
Tell us about any allergy at the tour; once you enroll, we ask again in private.
Cribs and naps
Babies sleep on their backs, in their own crib, with nothing else in the crib.
Clean hands
Every room washes hands on arrival, before meals and after outdoor play.
Drills
Each room practices fire and weather drills with its teacher.
Visitors
Visitors sign in at the front door and are never left alone with the children.

Licensed by the state
What “licensed” means
Three plain answers for any family who wants to check.
What it means
In Illinois, a center that cares for young children needs a state license. The license means the center meets the state's rules on staffing, safety and space.
Who checks it
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). A state licensing representative visits the center and can visit again.
Where you can look it up
The license number is on the board and at the foot of every page. Search for the center by name in the state's public child care search, or ask us for the report from the last visit: we will show it to you.
How to check it yourself
Before you decide you can ask us for three things: the license number, the report from the state's last visit and a look at your child's room at nap time. We show you without a rush on the tour.
If something does not sit right, you can also contact the state office that issues licenses; the link to check the license is on the board.
